Standard U-Bolts

are simply Bolts that are bent to form a U that fits around a pipe or tube. It is threaded on both ends to allow attachment to a beam or structure.

WHAT I DO?

U-Bolts are intended for generally three applications:

  • Restain or guide a pipe during operation.
  • Hold a hanging pipe.
  • Restain pipe for shipment.

HOW TO INSTALL

Using U-Bolt as a Restraint
  1. Remove both nuts from each side of the U-Bolt
  2. Thread U-Bolt around the pipe you are attaching and through the two holes that will be used to attach the U-Bolt to the beam or structure.
  3. Thread both nuts on to each side
  4. Hand tighten the closest nuts to the beam first
  5. Tighten the second nut on each side to lock the U-Bolt into place. Use a wrench or power toll to tighten for a secure fit.

 

Using U-Bolt as a Guide

  1. Remove one nut  from each side of the U-Bolt
  2. Thread U-Bolt around the pipe you are attaching and through the two holes that will be used to attach the U-Bolt to the beam or structure.
  3. Measure and adjust top nuts to ensure that you have the correct gap as per the specification.
  4. Install the second nut on each side and tighten to lock the U-Bolt into place. Use a wrench or power toll to tighten for a secure fit.
