Cove Point, located in Lusby, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay, (read more here) will be a premier facility featuring direct access to the Marcellus and Utica shale plays. The gas liquefied at this facility (an average of 750 million standard cubic feet per day of inlet feed gas) will be sourced from a wide variety of areas.
APP supplied around 4,000 CryoTek Shoes and Wear Pads for this LNG project. Construction was completed and QA testing and chill down at the facility occurred in Mid-November. No problems or defects were found in any of our products. Any defects would have required replacement and created potential for project delays. Our 4,000 peak-performance pipe shoes and wear pads added up to time saved for our client.
At this time, construction is complete and equipment is being commissioned and quality tested. Natural gas for commissioning has been provided by Shell NA LNG. This project is on time and on track. We’re glad our APP products played their part in contributing to the safety and security of this project—and, of course, in making more possible.
