This bi-directional facility is equipped to both import LNG/vaporize it as natural gas and to liquefy domestic natural gas and export it as LNG. The facility features direct access to the Marcellus and Utica shale plays, and represents one of APP’s most ambitious collaborations to date. Over 4,000 APP ProTek Composite Wear Pads and CryoTek Pipe Shoes were supplied for this project. The first week of April saw two commissioning cargos of LNG delivered to the facility by the Gemmata LNG carrier. These first loads were not the Marcellus/Utica gas the facility is now importing, but testing loads used to ensure the facility was operating as planned. After testing was completed, the facility entered commercial service on April 10 after the LNG carrier Patris docked on Monday, April 9. From now on, 100% of this facility’s gas will come from the Marcellus/Utica plays. We congratulate Dominion on this ambitious project, which will contribute LNG to the Cove Point pipeline.
